ALD/ALE 2020 IS CANCELLED
After much deliberation in the wake of rapidly changing and unprecedented circumstances surrounding the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the AVS has made the extremely difficult decision to cancel the AVS 20th International Conference on Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD 2020) featuring the 7th International Atomic Layer Etching Workshop (ALE 2020) scheduled for June 28-July 1, 2020 in Ghent, Belgium.
This was not a decision made lightly, or without significant deliberation, but the health, safety and well-being of the ALD/ALE 2020 global community is our highest priority. So, in the face of increasing concerns, travel restrictions, and with the guidance of governmental and health agencies, the decision was compelled and required. Virtual Meeting Announcement Coming Soon
We understand what ALD/ALE 2020 means to our attendees, presenters, exhibitors, sponsors, vendors, staff, and that our scientific community will be greatly affected by the lost opportunity to collaborate with colleagues face-to-face. We are working very quickly to prepare a plan for a hybrid virtual meeting so please watch for an announcement in the coming weeks of how presenters, attendees, and sponsors will be able to participate virtually.
Attendee Registration Refunds
If you have registered for ALD/ALE 2020 you do not need to contact us about your refund. AVS will be processing full (100%) attendee refunds next week and we will be sending confirmation (from events@avs.org) of the refund to your e-mail. If you paid by wire transfer we will contact you for specific banking details. Once we notify you that your refund has been processed, please note that it will take 3-5 days for your refund to appear on your credit card or bank statement.
Sponsor and/or Exhibitor Refunds
If you signed up to be an ALD/ALE 2020 sponsor and/or exhibitor you do not need to contact us for a refund. AVS will be processing full (100%) refunds in mid to late April and we will be sending confirmation of the refund to your e-mail. If you paid by wire transfer we will contact you for specific banking details. Once we notify you that your refund has been processed, please note that it will take 3-5 days for your refund to appear on your credit card or bank statement. We will also notify you of any sponsorship opportunities for the ALD/ALE 2020 Virtual Meeting once we have the form ready.
Hotel Cancellation
If you made a hotel reservation using the ALD/ALE 2020 group block online reservation link, please contact the hotel directly to cancel you reservation unless you have already received a hotel e-mail cancellation confirmation notice. The Marriott has agreed to automatically cancel reservations and send confirmations, but the NH Ghent has not confirmed. If you booked outside of the ALD/ALE block with a third party (i.e. booking.com, Expedia, etc.) or at another hotel, please cancel those reservations directly with the booking party. Don’t forget to do the same with any airline or train reservations.
